“And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads and saying, ‘Aha, You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself, and come down from the cross!’” (Mark 15:29‑30).
Those who said this had no idea that the One they were mocking had the power to come down from the cross. Not only that, but Jesus could have called twelve legions of angels to destroy the world and render vengeance on those who crucified Him (Matthew 26:53). If He could have saved Himself, then why didn’t He? Jesus made it clear that He didn’t want to die when He said to the Father while He was in the Garden, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me… Continue reading

“But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things, but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.” (Luke 16:25-26). These are words which Abraham spoke to the rich man regarding his fate. He had died and no relief was to be granted to him after death. Memory is one thing that is certainly retained after one dies. The rich man was called to remember the things in the life which he had left. There was nothing that he could… Continue reading

Most of us have heard of, or some may even know a person who “sleep walks”. With eyes wide open, a person may engage in various activities, but be asleep. I know a person who went to their closet to buy two tickets for the next show. Some sitting up in bed may rise to rearrange furniture. A misconception is that if you wake up such a person from their “sleep walking”, it will be harmful. In fact, the person is oblivious to objects such as electrical cords in their way, and if not awakened, can trip over dangerous obstacles resulting in personal harm.
We can be actively engaged in life’s activities, but oblivious to the malady of spiritual sleep walking. We are busy, but asleep… Continue reading

In our society, we are used to people “getting away” with certain things, aren’t we? It has become almost commonplace to hear about a person hiring a “dream team” of lawyers so as to avoid criminal charges and prosecution. Closer to home, we may notice people “getting away” with theft by eating displayed food at the grocery store without buying it; or someone taking extra time on their breaks at work and getting paid for it. Perhaps someone we know has been dishonest (lying), and yet men tend to ignore this sin. It seems that we have reared a society which thinks that we can escape certain sins by ignoring them and no one is the wiser. Is this really the case?
God says there are things… Continue reading

Man’s thoughts about hell: “It’s made up by Christians who want to scare people into being religious.” “It’s what you have to go through here on earth.” “Only murderers or really evil people go there.” “A loving God would never send anyone there.” “Hell is annihilation – you just cease to exist.”
But those who believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and inerrant word of God know that hell is a real place (2 Tim. 3:16-17).
What does the Bible teach about hell?

No event has had a greater impact upon the history of mankind than the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. We know that the Bible speaks of this event, but some fail to see just how vital it is to their faith. Continue reading

There’s a story of a business man going to his financial adviser. At meetings he would say, “I died last night. Tell me what happened to my family, my business, & estate.”
At death, a person’s spiritual condition will be much more important than his finances. (Luke 12:15-21)
None of us truly think that we will die unexpectedly.
The choices and decisions you make today will help determine where you will spend eternity. (2 Corinthians 5:10)
The answers to the following questions will determine your destination.
If you died last night, where would you spend eternity?

The consequences of truth are sometimes bitter. Many a man has lost his job, or home, or friends, or life because of his stand for truth. Many a preacher has been ousted from the pulpit, having neither house nor salary, because he preached the truth. Many a person has had his name slandered and maligned because of truth. With all such people, love for truth is greater than love for comfort, security, or even life itself. Continue reading

Some deny the reality of death. Some fear death so they avoid all mention of it. Some don’t care- let’s eat drink and be merry. Others curse God who would allow it. Others in despair commit suicide. What is your attitude toward death?
Are you prepared for it? A lot will depend on your attitude towards God & the application of God’s word in your life.
