What is the A.D. 70 Doctrine? (Part 3)

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

We are continuing and completing our study this morning on the AD 70 doctrine.

While Max affirms that Christ’s 2nd coming has already happened and was spiritual, Scripture says that Christ is going to return again where every eye will see Him. (Acts 1:9-11; Rev. 1:5)

While the 70 AD theory teaches that the resurrection is always spiritual and is Israel, the Bible teaches that the final resurrection of the dead is literal and for everyone. (John 5:28-29)

United Nations?

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

The 64th Session of the United Nations General Assembly convened in New York City this week with its customary round of presidential speeches, dictator rants, summits and resolution adoptions; a lot of bark and very little bite. And so it goes. Continue reading

Is Our Bible Corrupt?

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

Muslims believe and claim that our Bible is corrupt. So, one cannot trust the teachings contained within as emanating from God. Of course, this assertion of corruptness is designed to clear the way for the Koran. You can supposedly trust it for Allah has not allowed it to be corrupt. Is Jehovah less powerful are less observant to let such a thing happen with His revelation? Continue reading

When You Thought I Wasn’t Looking

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

We have a lot of people who look to us as examples, but we should never forget about our children, who are the closest ones to which we are an example.

Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). From today onward, think what happens when you are not looking. To help you, consider what happens from the standpoint of a child… Continue reading

In 1816, it was 1% in Connecticut.

In 1880, fewer than 5% ended their marriages. (historian Robert Griswold, recorded in National Review, June 9, 2004).

In 1969, it had risen to 25%.

In 1970, California enacted no-fault divorce which led to all the states adopting it by 1985.

“Is what we have in our Bibles the Word of God?”

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17) Jesus said in response to the devil’s temptation, “Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4)

Do you believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and inerrant word which we can depend on for eternal life? (John 12:48-50)

What is the A.D. 70 Doctrine?

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Unless gospel preachers warn and brethren heed the danger there will be more division.

Please examine what is said by God’s word.(1 Thessalonians 5:21-22; Acts 17:11) We must understand each Scripture as being literal unless there is something in the context that would determine a figurative explanation.

Remember that all the Scriptures will harmonize and not contradict any other passage or you will have the wrong interpretation.

“By what authority are you doing these things?

Monday, September 21st, 2009

When Bible authority is taught, some may argue, “there are many things you do that aren’t in the Bible”- Church building, song books, communion trays, multiple cups, A/C or heat, Bible classes, bulletins, tracts, PowerPoint, website, etc. We also drive in cars and fly in airplanes that aren’t mentioned in the Bible.

“How can you condemn others, when you don’t have Bible authority for what you teach either?” It is right to question what is taught. (1 John 4:1)

Since the church is subject to Christ, the Wonsley Dr. church of Christ desires to obey everything the Lord commanded including divinely approved examples.
